The news of the joint military exercises between Russia and Vietnam, published by the Russian state newspaper Ria Novosti on the 19th of April, has proved to be a hoax, as we had already assumed. This was Russian propaganda, with fabricated information.
The newspaper of the Vietnamese army corrected the news on the 24th of April and stated that a videoconference was actually held with Russian officers, but the topic was the international army games in Russia. Last year 175 teams from 43 counties participated in the games. Vietnam did well and finished seventh. It is likely that Vietnam will participate this year also if the games are held.
